Google Africa was visiting this week in Mauritius. A six-person team from the Africa-based IT giant visited the startup incubator La Turbine in Moka.

Representatives from Google Africa include Doron Avni and Michael M. Murungi, respectively Director of Public Policy and Gov’t Relations-EMEA Emerging, and Markets Policy & Government Relations Manager. In addition to representatives of Google, 47 directors and members of regulatory bodies, legislators and parliamentarians from Africa have made this visit. The delegation was in Mauritius as part of a conference of the Africa Internet Academy.

“It’s a real honor for us to welcome Google Africa to our premises. This is a recognition for La Turbine on the continental stage. Our ultimate goal is to succeed in having a partnership with the famous brand and benefit from its networks. This will allow us to offer advanced training to all our incubators and will expand our range of offers, “says Fabrice Boullé, executive partner at Compass, an ENL venture capital fund affiliated with La Turbine.

The Turbine wants to partner with Google to also increase its visibility including the directory of the US firm. The incubator would also be able to access Google’s activities and services such as training and events, market research, product information and promotional offers.

In the meantime, it is the Mauritian startups who put themselves forward during the visit. Two of these companies presented their services to the delegation: FundKiss Technologies Limited, a crowdlending platform certified in Mauritius, and MySphere, a social network dedicated to professionals.
